Origin Story
It started as a casual conversation in our SansMinds Creative Lab. Boys were talking about how the thumbtip is still one of the most versatile tools in magic. Unfortunately, like many classic magic tools, it’s fading away because people are coming from 360 with their phones and shooting in FULL HD. For CLOSE UP MAGIC that needs to be performed UP CLOSED, the Angle and Distance become a huge issue when people can zoom in on the videos they film.
We are in an era where technology and AI are not only so much more amazing than things magicians can deliver casually live. We are soaked in a culture where everyone watches your magic LIVE with their smartphones.
The Quiet Obsession
What if… there’s a fingertip that is so perfect, that it can be challenged 360, up close, and can be filmed with peace of mind.
The experiment quickly went on our lab schedule, and we immediately knew why that’s an issue no one had tackled for so many years. It was so F-ing hard. So… we gave up immediately and saved our time for more certain ideas.
THAT… became the quiet obsession. The kind that sneaks up on you. The kind where one idea turns into late-night tests, new experiments, trials of new materials, and arguments over millimetres. After the whole COVID thing, we did it.
A finger tip that allows CLOSE UP magic to be truly performed UP CLOSE. Not only do you not tell with the sharpest eyes, but the camera can’t spot the difference. For the first time, a blunt magic tool that beats modern technology.
HOWEVER, it’s an experimental item that can’t be put into mass production. So we only produced for our own members and a couple of magic celebrity friends. It became one of the best-kept secrets in magic over the past 6 years, simply because when other magicians saw it, they thought they had been fooled by another revolutionary magic principle. Little did they know they were looking for everything they already knew about with a fingertip inches away from their eyes.
Each unit is produced by a Hollywood-level special effects artist who hand-sculpts, adjusts, and hand-paints each piece one at a time. From start to finish, it takes about 3 hours to craft a unit. This is not something a factory could ever replicate. And that is the entire point. The tool itself is an art piece owned by an artist.
Performing close-up or on-camera, even in 4k, it’s a tool that can hold up under pressure.
A New Standard of Realism
Every unit is moulded directly from Jason’s actual index finger.
Nothing here is 3D-printed, factory cast, or mass-produced. It was crafted with artistic skills and love ONE-AT-A-TIME.
A Hollywood-level special effects artist charged us a TV-level fee to hand-sculpt and hand-paint every piece, one by one, during the TV production downtime on set. Just to adjust a unit till it’s the quality that we’d use for our own show, It takes nearly an hour to wrap up a single unit. The average SFX artist charges a day rate anywhere from $1000 USD- $2000 USD. But lucky for us, we were on our TV production set and the artist not only is a close friend, but he was also able to work on our secret project on the side while working for us.
That level of realism is simply unattainable in a factory setting. Not even close.
This is boutique craftsmanship, made 100% in Canada. And that’s why we decided to make it available as an Exclusive item for our SansMinds hardcore members and fans - sorry for all those password-protected pages. We’d love to share this with the community, but the way it has to be produced has its inherent limitations.
Each piece feels like it belongs in a professional FX lab… not a magic shop.
Built for Impossible Proximity
Index Finger is built for routines that happen inches away, even under full lighting.
Jason uses it for his signature finger-through-T-shirt routine. Spectators watch from arm’s length. Nothing flashes. Nothing looks suspicious. The finger looks exactly like flesh, even if someone is staring directly at it.
This isn’t about managing your audience. It’s knowing you have something extremely solid that can’t be broken through. That peace of mind, That confidence. .
A Collector-Level Piece for Pro Working Magicians.
Because each unit requires nearly 3 hours of hand-crafting, production is extremely limited. This is not a factory run we can simply order. Only a small batch can be hand-made. The kind of piece you keep in your case because you know the craftsmanship will never be duplicated at scale.
Index Finger is not just a simple gimmick. It’s a weapon that’s so sharp that it will slice through impossible conditions. It’s a spirit. It’s the SansMinds spirit.
With the Index Finger being the first leading item, we’d like to tell our fans that SansMinds is back.
