Cups and balls is a classic, and one our team holds in the utmost respect. We never thought it could be any better.
Then we saw Over Clear.
Cups and balls has always depended on opacity. You cannot see through the cup, so you cannot see the work. That concealment is what gives you the moment of surprise when the cup is lifted.
Jin Hyung Han took it up a notch and removed the restraint.
Over Clear is transparent. The ball loads, vanishes, appears, changes, and transposes in full view of a spectator looking directly through the walls of the cup.
When the team first watched the explanation, we had to watch it again and again. It happens so quickly that even as long-term creators ourselves, we could not comprehend it.
That is when we knew it deserved more attention.
